About

Hello! I’m Brian Weinberg. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. The first music I remember hearing was riding in my dad’s car where I vividly remembering hearing 3 tapes: Bob Dylan, Louis Armstrong, and David Allan Coe. I messed around with the piano that was in the house when I was 5, took trumpet lessons for a bit when I was 8, and then 1st played drums when I was 10. I took drum lessons from 7th grade all the way through high school and some college at the University of Miami. I started playing guitar and bass in 9th grade as well. I played drums in an instrumental prog-rock band in high school called Endymion. We won the battle of the bands 2 years in a row, the 2nd year doing an encore of Rush’s La Villa Strangiato (which was pretty fun, I love Rush). I played drums with an improvisational rock band out of Atlanta called Ghost Trane from 1999-2002. We did pretty well, played Music Midtown Festval once, had a residency at the Brandyhouse (r.i.p) toured the southeast relentlessly and did a few gigs at the Variety Playhouse, the best being when we opened for the North Mississippi Allstars on NYE to a sold out crowd. Ghost Trane disbanded and 2 of the guys in that band and myself formed and experimental punk rock type band called ppr. I played bass and sang with ppr. We made 5 albums, played a lot of shows, changed drummers once and then stopped for awhile. Nowadays we might do a few shows a year here and there. I’ve played with bunch of different bands since then and done pick-up gigs always looking for a good musical situation that I click with. My most current endeavors that have been going on for a few years include playing drums with the country-metal band out of Nashville called Stump Tail Dolly. We put out an album called “Soundtrack to the Second Civil War” produced by Jack Gibson of Exodus and engineered by Juan Urtega of Vile. I also play guitar and sing with my own eclectic rock band called Humdinger. We put out an album in 2017 called “Daytime Revenge is Weird”. I also play drums in the Jacks River Band, a heavy blues/funk/jam-type band. We put out an album in 2017 called “Woodland Creatures”. I also play keys/synth in Kilberth. Kilberth is an instrumental duo with drums and keys/synth. It is very heavy, atmospheric, and psychedelic.  We just put out an album called “So They’re Calling This Music Now”. I have also started doing some solo acoustic shows. I also teach private lessons on drums, guitar and bass. I love music more than anything and I’m very passionate about how it can create more “we” and less “me” on every level.
